Brotherhood of the Watchers is based on the classic game Catan. In this game, each area in the Gift provides one of five resources: wood, brick, wool, grain, and ore. However, the barren ice fields produce nothing. You take on the role of a Brother of the Night's Watch and use these resources to strengthen your hold on the North by building roads, villages and castles. You can also recruit guards for your patrol to guard the wall or buy development cards. Each of these actions brings you more power and recognition by awarding victory points. The first player to reach ten victory points wins the game and becomes the new Lord Commander of the Night's Watch!
The basic version of this game is almost identical to the basic game. However, the rules for advanced players contain many new elements. For example, you have to protect the wall north of the Gift against the invading wildlings!
Game of Thrones Catan is a standalone game. The base game 'Catan' is not required.
