The Royal Monstrological Society counts among its members the most famous and respected experts in monsters. The balloting is strict: only one new member is admitted each year. The players are aspiring members who compete to seek out and capture the best and beastliest monsters to prove themselves worthy of joining this exclusive club.
To help them in their search, prospective members receive a sum of money to finance long-distance travel and to hire a team with which they can catch monsters.
When 4 seasons have passed, all players present their collections at the annual banquet, the so-called Carnival of Monsters. Players earn points by exhibiting monsters, completing (secret) goals, and collecting gold crowns. And only the player who collects the most points will join the illustrious society.
