Product description Iki
Iki is set in the Edo era of Japan (1603-1869). Edo is the old name of Tokyo. The city's most vibrant market is located in the Nihonbashi district. All kinds of sellers display their wares in the main street, attracting a lot of customers. Not far from the main street there is a fish market, where boats come to unload their cargo and where the buzz of buyers and sellers can be heard.
Craftsmen and vendors live in Nagayas: houses around the main street. They have a variety of skills that are crucial in the daily lives of the people of Edo. It is estimated that Edo has about 700 to 800 different professions: makers of fans or lanterns, tatami-weavers,
fresh, printers, street vendors, tempura or sushi sellers, geishas, kabuki actors…
You will find many of these professions on IKI playing cards.
