Paladins of the Western Kingdom is set during a turbulent time in the West Frankish Empire, around the year 900. Despite frantic efforts to rebuild the city, surrounding communities are threatened by outsiders. Saracens explore the borders, while the Vikings plunder wealth and livestock. Even the Byzantines from the East show their dark side. As noble men and women, players try to hire workers from the city to defend themselves against enemies, build fortifications and
spread faith in the country. Fortunately, you are not alone. The king, as a wise man, has sent his best knights to assist in our efforts. Saddle the horses, sharpen the swords, the paladins are coming.

The player with the most victory points (VP) at the end of the game is the winner. Victory points can be earned by building outposts and fortifications, sending out monks and confronting outsiders. Each round, players request help from a specific paladin and hire workers to complete tasks. During the game, faith, power and influence will slowly increase. Not only does this affect the number of victory points, but it also determines the power of your actions. It
game ends at the end of the 7th round.
