Product Description El Grande
Will you win the battle for Spain and become El Grande?
Spain in the 15th century: For nearly 700 years, a conflict between Christian and Muslim rulers over control of the country raged. Spain was divided into several kingdoms, counties, provinces, and an emirate.
You are one of the Grandes, the high nobility, and you are trying to expand your power. Therefore, you send your brave knights, the Caballeros, out to conquer regions so that your power increases. By cleverly deploying different action cards, you try to thwart your opponents' strategies. Try to win over the King and always stay one step ahead of your opponents with intrigue!
In 1996, El Grande became the "Spiel des Jahres" (Game of the Year) and has been enjoyed by fans worldwide ever since. We've updated El Grande's content and given it a fresh new look. The game itself remains the same and hasn't lost any of its tactical fun. This release also includes two new mini-expansions and extra action cards!
Do you love strategy and want to conquer your fellow players' lands, but don't like rolling the dice? Then El Grande is exactly what you're looking for. Here, you'll have no more excuses for losing and can be proud of winning. Luck plays a minor role in this reworked version of the 1996 classic. Challenge your friends to a high-level tactical and strategic battle, which can be decided in just an hour and a half!

How do you play El Grande?
In El Grande, you try to achieve the highest score within 9 rounds and after 3 scoring rounds. Each player starts with their Grande and a few Caballeros in a region of Spain. The King is also in a region. Each round, each player plays one power card from their hand, which determines two things: first, the order in which players can choose action cards from the available selection, and second, how many new Caballeros they can add to their supply. On your next turn, you choose one of the remaining available action cards. Such a card shows an action you may perform and a number of Caballeros you may move from your supply to the game board. However, new Caballeros must always be placed in areas adjacent to the King. If you prefer not to do this, you can also throw new Caballeros into the Castillo. After every 3 rounds (and sometimes as a result of an action card), scoring takes place. The players with the most Caballeros in a region receive points. The King and Grandes can award bonus points. The Castillo is its own region, and after counting, the Caballeros move to another region of their choice, which can completely change the situation on the board. If you have the most points after 9 rounds, you win the game!
This edition of El Grande includes two mini-expansions and additional action cards to make the game even more varied and exciting. The cards from these mini-expansions offer more tactical possibilities with the King, and players can change the value of their power cards!
