You're an amateur dracologist in the world of Wyrmspan, a place where dragons of all shapes, sizes, and colors soar through the air. Excavate a hidden labyrinth you recently discovered on your estate and lure these magnificent creatures to settle in your caves. In Wyrmspan, you'll build a dragon sanctuary. Your sanctuary starts with a crimson lair, a golden cavern, and an amethyst cleft. As the game progresses, you'll excavate additional fields and lure dragons to live there. This way, you can combine your dragons' powerful abilities and earn the favor of the dragon guild!

Wyrmspan is a challenging board game for people who like to build up an engine during a game and who like great variety. The game is based on the well-known bird game Wingspan by Elizabeth Hargrave, who also worked on this game. In Wyrmspan, you build a dragon sanctuary. Your sanctuary starts with three excavated spaces: the three leftmost spaces of your Crimson Lair, Golden Cavern, and Amethyst Chasm, respectively. Over the course of the game, you expand these three caverns from left to right, first excavating empty spaces and then playing dragons on the excavated spaces.
Wyrmspan consists of four rounds. Each round, players perform one action in clockwise order. Players continue performing actions until they decide to fold; this usually happens when a player has used all their coins or has no dragons left in their hand that they want or can play. Players who haven't folded continue playing until all players have folded. Then the round ends.
On your turn, you choose one action (dig, lure, or explore) and place your adventurer there. You pay the cost in coins and/or eggs and perform the action. The winner of Wyrmspan is the player with the most victory points. These can be earned in various ways, including the value of played dragons, eggs, hidden cards, community objectives, and the dragon guild.
